The VGA/RGB port of the ArcadeIT! mainboard has been designed to generate a RGB video signal.
It carries four bits for each color components, plus an extra luminance component that is four bits also. There are also horizontal and vertical sync signals and power lines.
You can design a special video output stages or you can use the VGA/RGB module from the ArcadeIT! line.
The ArcadeIT! mainboard has two LCD ports to connect 8080 parallel interface based LCD modules.
The port carries 8 bits for data, and all control lines needed to drive a display such as read/write lines, clock line etc.
You can use all displays in the market as long as they follow the 8080 parallel interface specifications, but hyou can find a special multipurpose display module in the ArcadeIT! line of modules.
This port is mainly used for audio generation. The DAC used has a 12-bit resolution and together with the special audio module of the ArcadeIT! line can generate a nice audio, DC centered and controlled by a shutdown signal.
The output must be amplified by a set of USB powered speakers included in the kit, or by any kind of audio HiFi system.
